Dilrukshi Gamage ​Ph.D.


I am a postdoctoral fellow at the Sasahara Lab, Department of Innovation Science, Tokyo Insitute of Technology (Tokyo Tech). 
My research is in the feild of Human-Computer Interaction and Computational Social Science. 

In my postdoctral research, I primarily focus on "DeepFake/ AI" generated Misinformation and societal implications.
My Ph.D. has been focused on large scale open online learning  -MOOCs, HCI and Learning Analytics.

Feb:
 As an affiliate at Berkman Klien Center Internet Society at Harvard University, I  did a guest talk at the  Sturm Colleage of Law, University of Denver by the invitation from Prof. Zahra Takhshid
Feb: Accepted the inviation to serve committee role "Publicity and Networking"at The Eleventh AAAI Conference on Human Computation and Crowdsourcing 2023, Delft, Netherlands
Jan: As an affiliate at Berkman Klien Center Internet Society at Harvard University, I  did a guest talk at the AI Policy Lab, UPenn Carey Law School by the invitation from Prof. Rangita De Silva 
Jan: Our SIGCHI Gloabl committee  proposal to CHI2023 aproved - we will have a "Special Interest Group (SIG)" Session at CHI2023. 
2022
Dec:
  Workshop proposal submitted with HCI4SouthAsia got accepted to CHI2023-"Advancing HCI Research and Education within and across South Asia" (out of 144 proposals, only 44 got accepted) 
Nov:  Invited to serve in the program committee at the 21st European Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (ECSCW2023)

Oct:  Invited to serve as a International track chair for the premium MOOC conference  The European MOOCs Stakeholder Summit- EMOOC 2023 host by Hasso Plattner Institute, Germany
Sept:  Joined Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University as an affiliate
July:  Took part in the Datathon organized by the conference IC2S2, Chicago, USA and our team WON the OVERALL BEST PERFORMAMCE Award. 
April:  Our paper Analyzing conversations about deepfakes in Reddit and Twitter got accepted to present as a poster at IC2S2, Chicago, USA
April:  Session chair at CHI2022 for the session 395 "Social Media, Privacy and Mitigations" 
Mar:  Recieved an invitation to serve as a Demo chair at the premier South Asian Human Computer Interaction conference - India HCI2022  
Feb:  My second project as a postdoc with Prof. Sasahara - "𝘼𝙧𝙚 𝘿𝙚𝙚𝙥𝙛𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜? 𝘼𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙮𝙯𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝘿𝙚𝙚𝙥𝙛𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙍𝙚𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨" got (conditonally) accepted to ACM CHI2022  [pre-print] 24.7% acceptance rate from 2577 submisons. 
Jan:  Represented Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) at the Stanford mediaX themed day and presented our work at Sasahara Lab - Societal implications of AI Generated content.
